A day off from work

Free after a working weekend

What could be nicer than a day off after a hard weekend at work, being able to move around in nature and slow down. Yes, slowing down on a day when you can't shut your mouth during the first lap with the dog in the morning because of the beautiful light in the sky.

So back at home just had breakfast, put the camera backpack and the dog in the car and off we went.

First stop Klokkergården.

Klokkergården

Klokkergården is a place that you've probably seen if you've been to this site before. Maybe one of my favorite motifs on our island. On the one hand I like the house and on the other hand I like the mountain Møysalen, which you can see in the background. Actually I thought I could put an active link here to Hadsel Kulturminnepark with info on Klokkergården, but the site doesn't seem to be 100% complete yet.
I think that most people here know youtube and know that you often get suggestions related to videos that you have seen or refer to earlier searches.

Thomas Heaton recently reported in one of his videos about the Hasselblad Xpan which he bought in Sweden and picked up locally. What is so special about Xpan I thought and searched youtube for it. Here I became aware of photographers who copied the fotmat with their dslr.

BUT is the format really that great?

The Xpan format

Maybe first something about the Xpan. The dual-format XPan was Hasselblad's first 35mm film camera. But not the normal 35mm format, but a panorama format. The XPan cameras are rebranded versions of the Fuji TX-1 or was it a collaboration? That reminds me of my Panasonic Lumix dmc LC100, which is probably a Leica D-Lux 7 except for the software and a few optical changes? But back to format. The negatives of the Hasselblad XPan are 65mm × 24mm in size. I also found videos where the exact focal length and the image section were calculated and then a template for the live view was designed. But I haven't gone that far yet, I first tried the image section.

Here is an example where the focal length would also be correct.

I like panoramas

but this method is rather unknown to me. I usually take a panorama head and stitch several photos together. Here is another example from the same location.

and now the xpan version

But would I choose the same crops as with the Canon eos 6d Mk2?

That's a good question, maybe that's where the idea of the video creator with the stencil comes from. Because with the stencil he can see what he is photographing and then he can compose the detail better. Somehow how to think with the b/w if you actually photographed in color and later converted in Photoshop?

Do you like the format? Or rather a normal panorama? Would you rather work with an Xpan film camera today or would you rather use the digital version with a template or crop in Photoshop? Would you like to write it to me in the comments?

Finally, an attempt at an intimate photograph, that's a topic that I still have to practice....

Part 2 of the day is coming soon
