About the photographer

Born in 1973 in Rhede, Germany, I moved to Norway in 2001 and have lived in Stokmarknes on the island of Hadseløya since 2002. Today, I work in dialysis and find refuge and balance in photography during my free time. The endless beauty of nature on the Vesterålen Islands constantly inspires me.

In 2019, I founded "CaptureHadsel," a project that reflects my deep connection to this unique region. Most of my photos are taken on Hadseløya and the surrounding islands—places that have become more than just a home to me.

My photography journey began in 2002 with an analog compact camera, primarily used to document the impressive nature of Norway for my family and friends back in Germany. But I soon realized that the camera could never capture reality the way I saw it with my own eyes. So, I bought my first DSLR, a Nikon F65—the beginning of an adventure that has never let me go.

What fascinates me about landscape photography is the ability to capture moments in nature that might otherwise go unnoticed. The constant search for new perspectives and the joy of rediscovering familiar places make my photography exciting and vibrant.

I love being out in nature, often accompanied by my dog, the Euraiser Ramses. In the pursuit of the "perfect shot," I know I will never truly achieve it—but that's exactly the appeal: In photography, as in nature, there is always something new to discover.
